Extra Ways to Make Money From Home
Ok, so you’re looking for extra ways to make money from home. If you’re at all serious you’ll want to do yourself a favor and read this first…
This is a head scratcher for sure!
I’ve seen so many articles online about extra ways to make money from home, but nearly most of them are so either so general that failure is the likely outcome or they completely ignore the biggest question you need to ask yourself – do you want to make a little or a lot?
I’m gonna be real with you…
There are some things you can do to make money from home that will pay a couple of utility bills every month. I’m talking in the range of about $25-$100/month. Not life altering money, but it can pay the necessary bills.
Then you have things you can do from home that can buy you that dream home you’ve been longing for.
So, where do you stand? What are you looking to do?
Wait…
Before you answer, let me give you a little insight because this will make all the difference in the world in how you answer those questions.
Extra Ways to Make Money From Home Depends on Your Goals And…
Let me just put it out there…
It doesn’t take much effort to make a little bit of money online. There are micro job sites, real paid online surveys, and other things of that ilk.
If you want to make a little bit of money online and you’re not making anything, I can tell you that you’re either doing it all wrong or you’re doing nothing at all.
It’s easy to make some kind of money online.
But here’s the catch…
So, if you’re the kind of person who wants to put in the least amount of effort and/or if you just want to earn enough money to take your family to the movies twice a month, then don’t bother with anything other than surveys, micro jobs, etc…
You’re wishing on a pipe dream if you think doing online surveys will pay enough to buy you a new home.
You see, it takes very little effort and skills to make money doing those things. Not to mention there’s no costs to get started and there’s no learning curve. And it’s for those reasons why these types of tasks only pay from a few cents to a couple of bucks on average.
This is what bugs me when I read a lot of those extra ways to make money from home articles…
They don’t tell you that…
Bigger dreams require bigger efforts…
If you want to put yourself in the position to earn a lot more money, you have to do those things that can make that happen. Period.
A home business of some kind is the only sure-fire route to making bigger bucks from home.
There are literally thousands of ways to make money from home. I like to list those that have little to no overhead costs and can be done completely from home such as:
- Selling on eBay or Amazon
- Etsy, Shopify, or Tripleclicks Storefront
- Affiliate Marketing
- Freelancing
- Teespring T-shirt Selling
- Network Marketing
If you have bigger goals than paying your electric bill every month, then you’ll want to see how I break down these extra ways to make money from home…
How to Not SCREW Up Making Money Online
This is the big wake-up call I got when I first started marketing online (and after I bought a bunch courses)…
As long as there are buyers, you can make money in any niche.
Here’s the typical life of someone just coming on the Internet marketing bandwagon:
They go to one of those Internet marketing forums and they see someone posting about how they’re making boatloads of cash doing CPA offers and so they go and spend time trying to do that.
Then they read another post where someone says they’re making six-figures helping offline business with SEO and website design and so they abandon doing CPA offers and go on to local marketing.
Then the read another post where this new network marketing company is going to be the wave of the future and is “kicking-butt” and so the person who has abandon CPA marketing, and local marketing is now joining the new kick-butt network marketing company.
Then this person reads a post from a person who says they’re “killing it” on Amazon and so the person abandons the kick-butt network marketing company and then decides to sell products on Amazon. And on and on it goes!
Are people really surprised to learn that so many people with lofty goals don’t make a dime online?
Focus and commitment are two of your best friends when you’re trying to make money online. Without them, you’re likely to hit deep frustration and despair like no other – and quite likely end up broker than when you first got started.
There are extra ways to make good money from home, so here’s my assumption…
You want to make more than just money to pay a bill or two every month or else you wouldn’t have read this far down.
The all-around best advice is to start in the area you either know best or an area that you have an interest in. Now this is just a starting point if you don’t know where to start.
Next you want to see if there’s money to be made in that interest (niche). Are there other marketers marketing to that niche? If so, that’s a good indication there is money to be made.
You know that list that I gave you earlier? Now you want to see if you can find your interests in any of these business models…
Selling on eBay or Amazon
For every person that says eBay is dead or Amazon is saturated, there are lots of people who found a way to make it work for them. There are plenty of dropshippers in China who are more than willing to dropship to your customers. I know because the last couple of items I bought off of Amazon was shipped from China.
Here’s the deal..
You gotta know what you’re doing. With that said, some of the best training I discovered was actually on YouTube. Yep you gotta do some searches because there is so much out there. The other good place to learn about dropshipping is on the Warrior Forum.
Pros: You can make a whole lotta money.
Cons: Finding products (sourcing), listing products can be time consuming, getting your listings noticed, worrying about profit margins.

E-Commerce Store Front
E-commerce is hot and only getting hotter. With so many sites like Tripleclicks , Etsy, and Shopify it’s easy more than ever to set up a shop online.
Pros: You can set up shop quickly, you’re in control.
Cons: Some sites have listing fees and/or monthly fees. Tripleclicks doesn’t have either and you only pay when you make sales.
Affiliate Marketing
Although not as easy as it once was it’s still the fastest way to get started with Internet marketing. The best (and smartest) approach is to get some training so that you know what in the heck you’re doing. I recommend this long-running program…
Pros: You can make a lot of money, you don’t have to worry about product creation or dealing with returns or refunds.
Cons: You won’t make a single dime if you don’t know what you’re doing. This is why I recommend this affiliate marketing training.
Affiliate Money Programs
If you like fast money, then you’ll want to read this part very carefully – I’m serious.
There are three basic kinds of affiliate money programs…
Type 1
First of all, there are a lot of programs out there that are designed to RIP you off – period. They will promise you the moon, the stars, mansions, and the ability to earn $100k without lifting a finger while you sleep. I’m sure you’ve seen these types of program and perhaps you may have even been a victim of one. They were never designed to help you make money at all. They are out-right scams.
Type 2
There is another type of money program where all you have to do is get people “in” and you make money by filling in the matrix and you get spillover and yadda, yaddaa, yadda. In nearly 9 out of 10 cases these are scam programs because there is NO real product or service being sold. In some cases there is a flimsy product, sometimes a PLR product.
Most if not all of these types of programs do not teach you to be a business owner nor does it add anything to help you become a better marketer. Without improving your business and marketing skills you will never make the bigger bucks in this industry. Yes, you can make money with these programs but they’re sketchy.
In nearly most cases you never know the person behind the program (big RED flag). In addition, you will find yourself starting over again and again because these programs don’t last long, nor do they offer any real value.
Type 3
This type is similar to the other ones in that it’s operated primarily by one person or a handful of people at most.
The biggest difference is that there is a real product or service being sold. In addition, they offer REAL business and marketing training to help you become a better business person – it’s not all about the money. The program has value in an of itself.
Let’s Talk About The Money…
These programs offer a high converting funnel and/or instant payouts usually via PayPal. 9 out of 10 ten times, I completely ignore these types of programs because they’re usually type 1 or type 2 above. I don’t have time for shenanigans and I’m sure you don’t either. The fortunate thing is that you really have to buy the program in order to really SEE what’s on the inside.
When you’re looking for extra ways to make money from home and you’re reliant upon reviews, know that:
a) Most people writing reviews don’t own the program – not an issue for a lot of programs but for money programs sometimes there’s an “iron” curtain you have to get through to see what the program is really all about. This can only be done if you buy the program.
b) A lot of people are so new to Internet marketing that they don’t know what the heck they’re even promoting and/or don’t have a clue about Internet marketing. They can’t compare what they’re promoting to anything because they have no experience. Listening to people who have no real world experience can be deadly to your pocketbook.
With that said, I can only recommend (2) affiliate fast money programs (and yes I’ve bought both)…
My Funnel Empire by Bryan Winters
Great for earning bigger commissions while building your list. Lots of great resources to help you generate traffic and email swipes to get you started. Bryan is known for creating great products. This is a HIGH converting funnel program.
Internet Business Kit by Billee Brady
As far as I’m aware this is Billee’s first affiliate program. His program teaches you how to market, how to put together a funnel, and includes access to lots of software to help you build your business. The access to the software is worth the price alone. You earn commissions straight to your PayPal account.
(Did you notice how I know the names of the people behind the program?!)…
This are two of the BEST programs online for making money faster – and they both let you build your golden asset…your list. With that said, because the owners of these types of programs can pull their product off their shelf at any moment, they are riskier.
This is why you don’t want to solely rely on income from these programs. You can start with them, but I urge you to add in other long-term programs like SFI that allows you to earn residual income and most importantly, have been in business a lot of years.
Pros: You can make a lot of money faster and build your list at the same time. These programs are built upon taking action – not reading about theory. They both offer simple step-by-step tutorials.
Cons: These programs can be riskier and the legit ones are far and few in between. This is why I can only recommend the two listed here.
Freelance Your Skills
If you are creative and/or have skills in any task that is in demand, you can make a nice income on freelance sites such as:
- Fiverr – (Read Astrid’s inspirational story)
- Odesk
- Guru.com
- Elance
Pros: You are in charge of your income – you’re the boss, gotta have skills (or outsource).
Cons: You gotta hustle to get gigs and finish gigs on time. Once a gig is done, you’re out of business unless you’re charging monthly for ongoing services.
Teespring T-Shirt Selling
Now I don’t know much about Teespring except where I see people posting about it on forums.
The consensus is that you need at least $500-$1000 to test your ad campaigns (it appears that the vast majority of people use paid advertising). If you can’t afford to lose that much money, then you may want to re-think doing Teespring.
Pros: You can make a heck of a lot of money
Cons: You have got to have some creativity – you’re creating tee-shirts. The biggest downside is that I see a LOT of people struggling to make money (a lot of people lose money) with Teespring because they can’t get their campaigns to convert.
If you’re seriously interesting in this, you’ll need some training. This guy was recommended on the WarriorForum. He looks credible and he has some cool free tutorials about Teespring. This may be one place to start.
Network Marketing
This is the kissing cousin to affiliate marketing, in that you’re selling someone else’s products in exchange for a commission.
The only difference is that in network marketing, you’re building a sales team to help you get sales.
Now network marketing, like anything else, is not everyone’s cup of tea. If you don’t like building a team and/or don’t like being a leader and working with people, then network marketing may not be the best thing for you to do.
Pros: You can earn repeat (residual) income, you work as a team – you’re not alone building a business, can be fun to do. There are network marketing companies in a lot of different niches.
Cons: Lots of scam companies using the mlm compensation model, industry under scrutiny due to some companies having very little retail customers buying products – only distributors, and you earn small commissions because you’re building a team.
[stextbox id=”info”]If you like both network marketing and affiliate marketing, there’s one company that takes the best of both “worlds” and puts them together into a unique and profitable business venture. You can learn about it here. [/stextbox]
Now you have a lot of extra ways to make money from home. Start with your interest, choose a business model, and make sure you have buyers for whatever it is you want to sell. Stay focused and above all have fun while you make money!
